I never really have given much thought about the reason why I started this blog. Then one day, Mary messaged me on Facebook asking if she could interview me for her research paper about blogging and its benefits. I felt like a pro right there and then. HAHAHA! I AM NOT. I didn’t even take a writing course. Though, it is truly deeply my passion. I guess, it’s not that too late to do whatever I feel the happiest about. So here I am now 💙💙
These are the questions she asked:
WHY DID YOU START BLOGGING?
I started blogging because I want to grow as a writer. At first, I just wanted to write down whatever comes to my mind then post it online. Though, I didn’t actually share my stuff to my friends. I didn’t even link it to my social media accounts. I don’t know. Maybe because it still wasn’t a thing 7 years ago. Then it came to the point where I asked myself “Why post it online if I won’t even share it? If I don’t even want people to read it?” Maybe because I was scared to be judged by my words. So, I only wrote for myself then. But I took the courage and I want myself to be heard so I share whatever I post now. I write for others now–for everyone who can relate to my life and my story.
i first posted my scattered thoughts on Tumblr, if i remember it correctly. i cant access the account now, though. then there was this group called Writing R Us at thetwilightsaga.com which has been taken down because it’s not “Twilight” related. I used to write there as well. in may 2014, I tried Blogger.
HOW DO YOU COME UP WITH THE IDEAS THAT YOU POST ON YOUR BLOG?
I usually watch Youtube videos. I’ve always wanted to do vlogs and be a Youtuber but I’m so awkward on cam and I guess I am more into writing than talking. I also spend so much time online so whatever I think is trendy or catchy, especially to millennials, and that I can also relate to, then I’ll write something about it.
HOW DO YOU DEAL WITH YOUR MENTAL BLOCKS?
Well, I’m a reader too. Reading others’ words help a lot.
HOW OFTEN SHOULD YOU UPDATE YOUR BLOG?
At least, thrice a week. I set a schedule like I’ll post poetry every Wednesday then book reviews on Fridays (if I’m able to finish one that is)
this is never accurate 😂 BUT I ALWAYS TRY TO POST WHAT I CAN, WHENEVER I CAN
WHAT DO YOU THINK SHOULD BE THE IDEAL LENGTH OF YOUR BLOG POSTS?
I don’t really write in particular length. Just whatever feels right. I don’t force myself to write it if I don’t feel like writing it. It’s not about the word count, it’s what you want your readers to remember. That’s how you’re gonna make a difference. It’s the impact.
WHAT DO YOU THINK WILL BE THE BENEFITS OF BLOGGING?
Appreciation. That’s it mostly. It boosts self esteem. It feels great whenever someone compliments how good you write or how you somehow changed his life with your words. It’s more than the material things like sure, you may get sponsors, giving you products and stuff for reviews and all that but if your readers don’t appreciate what you post, then it’s nothing. You’re doing it for nothing.
Also, I remember she told me that I can give advice or tips for other aspiring bloggers. I couldn’t think of anything then so I didn’t 😂 Looking back, I should have said:
WRITE. YOUR. HEART. OUT.
Repost. I decided to make it as a blog post instead of one of the pages.😅 Why did you start blogging? What’s your story? 💙
