KUNG HEI FAT CHOI!!

My mother still asks me why I want to celebrate the Lunar New Year.

“I don’t know why you keep celebrating it. We’re not Chinese.”

“You are not. I am Chinese.”

Father side. Great grandparents. I don’t know how much of a Chinese I am but I am Chinese, mom. 😂 I don’t know how she could forget when my father always tells me I get my eyes from lelang. Haist, parentals.

Anyway, I usually want to have some festival food but given that I quit my job last month, I can’t afford to spend. Hahaha! I saw my mother making banana cupcake so I helped in that instead. I know. This is a first. I hate doing anything that involves the kitchen, or the whole household for that matter. I can’t, for the love of food, cook. know. So, this is me making time for it. It’s a new year after all! I’d just thought I’d share to you how productive this day was and how we did the banana cupcake. Note: It is steamed.

We smashed 4 bananas, beat 2 eggs and added 1/2 cup of milk. On this, we used evaporated than the usual fresh milk. We just followed some Youtube videos. Hahahaha! Means of survival, friends.

Then, we blend it together with another mixture of:

  • 1 1/2 cup – All-purpose flour
  • 1 cup – brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon – baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon – baking soda

Mix. Mix. Mix. Add:

  • 1/4 cup – melted butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon – salt
  • 1 teaspoon – vanilla

That’s just basically it. It is super easy. Though, it is sticky. LOL This is how it should look like.

Put it in the steamer and leave it for 20 minutes. And voila!

Our cup size is about 2 ounces and we got to make 25 cupcakes out of these ingredients. It’s really yummy! I love anything banana owo

I’m happy with the result. I am confident that I can do this on my own next time. Huh. I told my mother we should have added cashew or chocolate chips. What do you think? Yes? Yes! I will try that next time. 🙂

How did you spend the Spring Festival? I wish us all prosperity this 2018! There will be bad days, who knows how many of them, but I hope we all find the reason to keep going;

  3. Meron din ako nito, banana cake naman haha. Steamed lang din. Di kami nagcelebrate though nagluto ako ng pasta. Counted ba yun sa noodle tradition? Parang hindi ano haha. Anyway, Happy New Year!
